About Me

Prior to founding BREWER LAW FIRM, LLC, Barrett was a partner at a well respected multi-state law firm, specializing in insurance defense of personal injury claims, headquartered in Charleston, SC. He spent his entire career representing clients across South Carolina, in jury trials spanning the areas of personal injury, defamation, general business, commercial, construction, and real estate cases. A Board Certified Trial Attorney, Barrett has tried cases to a jury throughout the state. He has tried over 100 cases at all levels of state and federal court, as well as practicing in the appellate courts.

Barrett has obtained millions of dollars in plaintiffs’ verdicts and settlements for his clients in personal injury and business disputes throughout the state.* In defending clients, he has obtained numerous defense verdicts at trial, and dismissal of cases before trial. Further, Barrett has successfully represented his clients through the appellate process, prevailing both before the SC Court of Appeals and the SC Supreme Court.

Born in eastern North Carolina, Barrett attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Oxford University, and law school at Wake Forest University. Barrett currently resides in Mount Pleasant, SC, with his wife, Jessica, their three daughters and their dog. In his spare time, Barrett loves spending time with his family, both at home and on the water, playing guitar, and taking advantage of Charleston’s vibrant music, arts, and food culture.

Career Inception

Barrett’s interest in litigating jury trials started when his own father, a commercial real estate broker, was cheated by two bigger companies who wanted to pocket more money by not paying a commission. His father had a good case, but the trial lawyer did a bad job. Seeing first-hand how small businesses and professionals get steamrolled by big companies and their big law firms, and seeing how fraud injured his own family, Barrett decided he could do better.

Barrett attended Wake Forest University School of Law, where he represented the school in both trial and appellate advocacy competitions, nationally.  He went on to hone his jury trial skills in personal injury and business litigation at one of the largest law firms in South Carolina, where he has been the lead attorney in well over 100 jury trials, as well as countless adversarial motion hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
